What have you been doing this week?
This week we have began editing the shots that we have already filmed. This was an easy task as we had lots of footage to work with, which is what we were aiming for. Whilst editing we began to realise that the lip syncing of the artist was not exact and that he did not know the exact words. We decided we would not only need to refilm these shots but perhaps give him a longer time to learn the words.
What key concepts have you been focusing on?
This week we have been focusing on continuity and making sure when editing that the whole clip runs smoothly and looks like one music video rather than a collection of different clips. To do this, we implemented some techniques we practised during our foundation portfolio such as match on action. Also we were inspired by the music videos we researched during pre production.
What key decisions have you made this week?
We have decided that rather than relying on the cast member to learn the words we will tell him the line before each shot. Although this may be time consuming, it is better as the lip syncing will appear smoother and it will improve the quality of our work. Also, we have decided to minimize the amount of performance shots if the lipsyncing is still a problem by next week.
